Filming
for the BBC Series Open Gardens
3 May 2007 - The Third Day

The third day of filming
for the new BBC series of Open Gardens was mainly about progress in
the garden since the last visit. Alan who helps me in the garden was
involved this time and the above photo shows him being filmed while
weeding (a closeup of him putting the weeds in the bucket to be exact).
The film crew as previously were very friendly and made the morning
really enjoyable.

The main project for our
garden is the steeply sloping borders behind the cottage. This photo
shows me planting up the last part of the border. It has taken nearly
five hundred plants so I hope it looks good in the summer when Carol
Klein does her final visit and we open for the first time for the National
Gardens Scheme.

The above photo is a view
of the cottage from the wildlife pond. The two borders we have planted
are either side of the steps.

Alan takes his turn in the
"hot seat" for his present day interview. He also had to do
one "pre NGS acceptance".

Me doing my winter "pre
NGS interview" in my winter coat. I felt a lot more relaxed this
time and now feel quite comfortable in front of the camera. We have
now got a two month wait until the next filming day in July but by that
time the garden should be looking really colourful.
