The Development of the Garden
First Stage - Second Stage - Third Stage - The Future

First Stage

Work to redevelop the garden started in the Spring of 2003. The first stage was to improve the garden near to the cottage with patio areas and paths leading to the rest of the garden.

We didn't want any steps as my grandmother uses a wheelchair and we wanted her to be able to enjoy as much of the garden as possible. Click here to contine...

Second Stage

The garden has a flat area at the top then quite a steep bank with a flat area at the bottom with the brook running along the boundary.

Garden bank

Nothing had ever really been done with the bank so we decided to make a path with large borders and lawn. We also needed access to the lower part of the garden with our tractor mower. We had lost this access when selling Honeybrook House in 2004. Click here to continue...

Third Stage

The lower part of the garden had been grassed and kept tidy by mowing for some time. I had always wanted a large pond so we decided to build one where we could see it easliy from the cottage.

Lower garden

We also wanted to make access easy for my grandmother in her wheelchair and for anyone else so we built a path from our gate in Lowe Lane joining our garden at the top of the bank and the pond. Click here to continue...

The Next Stage

There are plenty of projects still to do such as building more paths to make access to different parts of the garden easier and also to plant up the borders around the wildlife pond and the area directly behind the cottage. We are having a garden room built on to the cottage which will mean changing the patio and garden near to it when it is finished. Click here to see the latest news...
